About GhostWalk

GhostWalk was started by a group of Santa Paula Theater supporters, not only as a fundraiser for the theater, but also as a way to tell stories-- told by great actors – in great, historic locations that change from year to year.

Not all of our ghosts are based on real people, but all of the tales are tied to historic people, incidents, disasters, or general history of the city of Santa Paula or the Santa Clara River Valley.

GhostWalk Volunteers

There are scores of local volunteers  that help us pull off this annual event, and we thank them all, but there are a few key people we would especially like to thank.

Mary Alice Orcutt Henderson is our long-standing chairwoman/executive producer who officiates this GhostWalk fundraiser event. Dee Helsel is our talented Artistic Director/On-Site Producer. She finds the writers, actors and technical crew as well as co-ordinates the very large group of volunteers. Dee oversees casting, directing and staging of the ghost pieces.

Our behind-the-scenes, EFX and technical directors this year are Carlos Juarez and Jerry Cruse. Carlos is one of our writers this year, and Jerry and his students from the high school drama club, are producing a "funeral procession", something new to this year’s GhostWalk street theater presentation.

Jeff G. Rack, former Artistic Director for years with GhostWalk leaves his imprint with the GhostWalk logo, now a signature of the event.

Key to this year’s event, are local Santa Paula Airport enthusiasts, Janice Dickenson and Mitch Stone. Both Janice and Mitch serve on the Board of the Aviation Museum, hosting us, and both are writers for this year’s event. Janice and her family members have been a part of the airport for 35 years, and Mitch is a pilot and has graciously let us use his hangar as a ghost site.
